The WWE roster has
been plagued by injuries for the past year and they have not stopped yet. Right
now we have John Cena, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Tyson Kidd, Hideo
Itami, Nikki Bella, Daniel Bryan, and others out with injuries. With all of these
injuries fans, critics, and even former talent are worried about the card for
WrestleMania 32. However, with all of these injuries the WWE still has a
multitude of talent to work with that they can build up but have done a
mediocre job doing so. So why are WWE fans, critics, and former talent worried
about the WrestleMania 32 card?
WWE creative has
worked effortlessly for almost three years to try and get Roman Reigns over
with the fans, but in the process have failed to put other talent over and it
has not helped Reigns in the slightest. The product has looked so stale for so
long because the company is not focused on putting over the talent but rather
more worried about getting their company and new face of the company over. This
has made every superstar look like an afterthought and thus has given way to an
amalgamation of worries about the WrestleMania 32 card. Fans do not want to see
wrestlers like Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus or even Neville because they just do
not care about them anymore. If the audience does not even care why should the
fans?
It is
understandable that WWE would want to put a few wrestlers in position to look
like main event talent like Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. But, when it is just
those two superstars and the rest of the roster is booked either as mid card
talent or jobbers with no purpose then the show has a greater chance of being
in jeopardy. For example, look at a guy like Dolph Ziggler.
Since 2011, fans
have been dying to see Ziggler pushed to the moon as one of the top performers
in the company, and for good reason. Until recently it would be hard to find a
Dolph Ziggler match that fans were not interested in seeing. However, since his
feud with Sheamus after WrestleMania 31, fans have been rather lukewarm toward
his presence because they know he is probably never going to be pushed to that
top spot in the company.
It is not only a
problem for WrestleMania, but a fear for the future. WrestleMania as most will
describe is sold mainly off of the namesake, but if that is the case then why
bring back legends like the Undertaker and Triple H to have fans interested in
going to the show or watching. WWE has failed to book new talent for almost a
decade and still rely on aged legends to bring in tickets, almost exactly like
their former rivals WCW. With 2016 looking to be a more positive year than 2016
and with legends like The Undertaker and Mark Henry on the verge of retiring
the opportunity to build new stars is more prevalent now than ever before, but
has poor booking and lackluster creative writing left WWE in a quagmire for the
future, let alone WrestleMania?
