Eyes On NCAA: March Madness- Sweet 16

By @TrueGodImmortal

This is really shocking. Villanova is gone. Duke is gone. Two of the perennial favorites to win this tournament are gone. Louisville is gone. The Sweet 16 is now all set and this is very exciting. We have a list of exciting matchups and games that could go either way. We wanted to get a fresh take on these games coming up on Thursday and Friday, as we prepare to narrow it down to just four. Let's look at these games by the days they will take place. Let's start with Thursday.

Thursday, March 23rd

(3) Oregon vs (7) Michigan- Midwest
-Michigan is on a hell of a run right now and they're my pick to make the Final 4 from that region bracket. Oregon is a very good team, but Michigan is just on a roll and I want to see this squad go far. Michigan is my pick to possibly win it all and I have them edging out a close game here.

(1) Kansas vs (4) Purdue- Midwest
-I'd like to see Purdue win this. I think this Purdue team is damn good and although Kansas is a favorite for many, I see a small shocker here as Purdue could pull out the victory here. I have Purdue winning in a tight game with a 4 point victory.

*(1) Gonzaga vs (4) West Virginia-West
-This is going to be a good match up. I don't see Gonzaga getting beyond the Sweet 16 and they nearly let Northwestern come back into the game to advance. The West Virginia defense is like an onslaught and I predict that West Virginia will shock the world and knock Gonzaga out in a 5 point victory.

*(2) Arizona vs (11) Xavier-West
-I'm calling this one for the upset. The 11th seeded Xavier team made easy work of the Maryland Terrapins and ran roughshod over Florida State. Arizona looked a little rough against Saint Mary's, and with some of the top 2 seeds already gone from the tournament, I think Arizona meets the same fate. Xavier is a sleeper team to win it all. They have played great March basketball so far and if we know anything about sports, it's that momentum can take you far.

Friday, March 24th

*(1) North Carolina vs (4) Butler- South
-This should be a good match up. North Carolina struggled with Arkansas a bit, but that's because Arkansas isn't a slouch at all. Butler is also not a slouch, but I feel that UNC will be able to pull this one out. It could go either way, but I predict a solid 10 point UNC victory here.

*(2) Kentucky vs (3) UCLA- South
-With Lonzo Ball being the talk of the town (or rather Lavar Ball) this will be a closely watched game. However, I really do believe that UCLA can pull this one out. This one is going to be a really good game and this is likely the game of this round to keep an eye on. It could end up being a classic game if it goes like I expect it to. Kentucky is sold, but I'm going to go with UCLA to pull this one out.

*(3) Baylor vs (7) South Carolina- East
-South Carolina just shocked the world and they will likely end up doing the same thing here to make the Elite 8. There are some really good teams who are shocking the world and I'm really excited to see this particular game. This will be a slept on game, but it should be a really good one. I think Baylor is a tough team to beat, but South Carolina has shown me that they are bred to go far after shocking Duke.

*(4) Florida vs (8) Wisconsin- East
-This has the makings of a classic. Wisconsin probably has all the confidence in the world after defeating the defending champions Villanova. Can Wisconsin continue their momentum and defeat Florida? I think so. I have Wisconsin walking away with the victory here and surprising the world by making the Elite 8, and personally? I have them making the Final Four now that Duke and Villanova are out of their bracket. Baylor nor South Carolina seem like they could defeat this Badgers team.

With the Final Four inching closer, this Sweet 16 round will be interesting. This is where the real fun starts as the games get tougher and the competition even better. Cheers to March Madness.

-True
